The magical, musical fable, Pippin, will be performed by high school students from around the Flathead Valley April 25-27 at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center. This production is part of the Alpine Kids! Theatre Project (AKTP) Educational Outreach Program.

This show is unlike anything we’ve ever done in this program. The look of the show is a crazy mix of circus, Japanese Anime, punk and 60’s mod style. We’re also employing entirely new production techniques.

This includes the heavy use of a technique called projection mapping, whereby video and images are projected onto the scenery throughout the show. We've collaborated with Dustin Herbert’s Media Design Class at Whitefish High School to create some of the images.

Currently enjoying a sold-out revival on Broadway, Pippin, tells the tale of a young prince on a death-defying journey to find the meaning of his existence. Will he choose a happy but simple life? Or will he risk it all for a singular flash of glory? With a score composed by Tony Award winning composer/lyricist, Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell), and original direction & choreography by the legendary Bob Fosse, Pippin is a fantasy fable for all time.

The mission of AKTP, Alpine Theatre Project’s educational outreach program, is to foster confidence and creativity in local students through participation in theatre. Past high school productions include Disney's High School Musical, Sweeney Todd, Rent and last year's production of Les Miserables. Over 900 students from every school in the Valley have participated in the program since it began.

This session of AKTP is sponsored by the Rick and Alicia Blake Family, Kalispell KiDDS, and Phil & Donna Harris with support from the AKTP Scholarship Fund.
